Rev. Bruce Morrison  (Senior Minister)

Bruce qualified as an economist and worked with QANTAS before entering Moore College in 1984 for ministry training. He has served in four parishes and has been Senior Minister and Canon at St John's since 2004. He provides overall leadership for St. John's, and has pastoral responsibility for its staff as well as the 9:30 am congregation. Bruce is married to Michele and they have three adult children. He is passionate about the great outdoors and given the chance, he would bushwalk, abseil and go canyoning all at the same time.

Rev. Graeme Begbie (Senior Associate Minister)grb.jpg

Graeme has served as an Anglican minister in six parishes across Sydney for over 35 years and came to St John's in 2005. He has prime responsibility for St John's wedding ministry, the Parramatta City Bible Talk, and the pastoral care of the 8 am and 11 am congregations. He is married to Stella and they have three adult children and four grandchildren. Graeme is passionate about all of the above and fresh bread, meat loaf, passionfruit ice cream, and a tidy garage and garden.

Rev. Tom Harricks (Assistant Minister)

Tom worked as a marketer in the IT and telco industry before entering Moore College for ministry training. He has been on staff at St John's in a full time capacity since early 2008. Tom is involved in evangelism and pastoral care through preaching and training and just hanging out with people from all services, particularly 7pm. Tom is married to Jenny and they have two young children. Tom values sleep (because his two children don't).

Lisa worked as a registered nurse for eight years, primarily in the cancer ward of a large Sydney children's hospital. She joins the staff of St John's having completed a four year Bachelor of Divinity degree at Moore College. Her focus will be on ministry to women and she is passionate about cross-cultural ministry. She loves mangoes, road trips and playing with her nieces and nephews.  

Michael Safari (Persian Minister)

Michael is originally from Iran and has a PhD in Linguistics. He and his wife Ulrike were missionaries with Operation Mobilisation before coming to St John’s in 2004. The Safari’s have two boys and minister to the Persian congregation in the Farsi language. Michael is passionate about evangelism and can be found most Thursdays in the Parramatta City Mall area doing just that. He is also passionate about soccer.

Rev. Ken Tang (Chinese Minister)

Ken is originally from Hong Kong. He qualified as a CPA and worked with Panasonic before deciding to go into full time ministry. He joined the staff at St John's in 2004. Ken has responsibility for St John's ministry to Chinese language-speaking congregations and pastoral responsibility for the Mandarin-speaking congregation. Ken is married to Joyce and together they enjoy travel to different parts of the world. Ken is passionate about discipleship training and would like to train more Christians to be mature in Christ.

David worked as a pharmacist in a community pharmacy before entering Moore College in 2003 for ministry training. He has been on staff at St John's in a full-time capacity since 2007 and has pastoral responsibility for the Cantonese-speaking congregation as well as our Sunday afternoon Youth program known as ATONED. He is married to Jenny and has three young children. David loves making music (David plays drums, piano and guitar - but not at the same time).

 

Jonathan Chen (Assistant Minister)JonathanChen.jpg

Jonathan has a Masters of Accounting degree but having turned to Christ in 2004, he decided to train for the ministry and entered Moore Theological College in 2006. He and his wife Renee come from north-east China and enjoy working with the various Chinese language-speaking congregations at St John's. Jonathan and Renee's young son keeps them very busy. Jonathan has special responsibility for the Mandarin speaking congregation.


Ministry Support Team

Valerian (Val) D'Lima (Cathedral Verger)

Val joined the staff of St John's in a full-time capacity in 2006. He is responsible for the day-to-day presentation of the cathedral and hall complex. Val, who came to Australia from Pakistan, is married to Dora and they have three adult children. Val is passionate about  family weekends away with a bit of fishing thrown in.

Jenine Hammond (Office Manager)

Jenine worked at the Australian Defence Industries (ADI) before joining the staff at St John's in 2001. She is responsible for all matters related to the office and she is a walking encyclopedia of information about the St John's parish. Jenine is passionate about her family including a very beautiful granddaughter.

Maryanne has a PhD in audiology and was a researcher with the National Acoustic Laboratories before joining the staff at St John's in 2008. She is responsible for the management of property and other resources within the parish. Maryanne is married to Chris and is passionate about live theatre and her morning coffee (skim flat white with one sugar, if you're buying).

David Osborne (Music Director)

 David has qualifications from Trinity College (London), the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMusA) and has piano teaching accreditation with Suzuki Talent Education. He has been Cathedral Organist at St John's since 1982. He specializes in organ, choral music, keyboard and delights in teaching. David is married to Leonie and they have two adult children. David is passionate about his family, all things musical, bible study, and God's great gifts of living, people, nature and creation.

 

Jane Strickland (Accountant)

Jane is a qualified Accountant and has worked part-time at St John's since 2001. She oversees all things financial and works very closely with the wardens of the parish. Jane is married to Trevor and has two adult sons as well as two beautiful grandchildren. Jane is passionate about seeing people come to Christ and watching sunsets over Santorini.
